Day 3: Ferrol to Pontedeume

On pilgrimage. The walk started today. Today the walk is from Ferrol to Pontedeume. This was a 30km long trek through Neda, Xubia, Fene and La Magladena.I started in the morning at 7:50 and reached the destination just after 5 pm.

NEDA. June 2022. After completing 13km approximately, leg one of day one

What I learnt on the Road was that the focus has got to remain on the road always and a moment of distraction can cause result in extra kilometres being added to the journey.

The signposting of the road to Santiago

As a Camino on the road to Santiago you have to follow not the Google Maps but follow the signs on the road or the pathways And if do you miss a sign you could go off track and that would lead you to lose a lot of time.

Xubia.

After reaching Xubia I must have missed signs to go further on to Fene. I tried to use Google Maps to come back on track but soon realised that Google Maps would not work on the tracks of road to Santiago. Whilst Google Maps showed a journey off 40 km whereas the road to Santiago tracks suggested a total journey of 18 km.

You are a lone traveller. But you have not been abandoned.

This error on the road to Santiago confirmed to me the importance of focus and remembering to look out for signs and road markers to stay on track. A moments distraction can prove to be very expensive.

An angelic moment. Being recognised snd blessed as a Camino.

As I walked towards Neda at a church I was approached bye old lady who offered me the symbols of a Camino on the road to Santiago.

Church en route.

This was an angelic moment for me as the lady approached me from nowhere and asked to give me something which I was wanting to buy but could not find in any of the shops.have a do that for me and I’ll when I asked her for money she said no that it was free from her gift and I graciously accepted it and carried on.

The gifted symbols of the traveller on the road to Santiago.

The journey continues….
