Reached Santiago from London Gatwick at 4 am. Travelled from Santiago to Ferrol by Bus after having a restful sleep and a traditional black coffee. I was in Ferrol by 4:30 pm.

Ferrol is a city located in the Ferrol estuary, in the north of the province of La Coruna, in Galicia.
It is an important coastal city due to its port and its strategic military position.
Walking through its streets, it is possible to discover its traditions and its seafaring charm.
Some of its tourist attractions are the Old Ferrol, which contrasts with the Modernist district of La Magdalena, the castles of San Felipe and La Palma and the city walls of La Cortina.

Ferrol is supposed to be the starting point of my pilgrimage- walking on the road to Santiago, also known as “common man’s walk”. Ferrol to me, is an ageing town, with lot of history but currently suffering.
Today’s learning: Each of us knows the answers, even before someone tells us what they are. Life teaches us lessons every minute, and the secret is to accept that only in our daily lives can we show ourselves to be as wise as Solomon and as powerful as Alexander the Great.

Every place I visit, I find Indian influences. Here in Ferrol I found a mens shop called Shiva. In two other cities I visited recently (Geneva and Amsterdam) I found Indian restaurants called “Gandhi”. Why Gandhi? Probably because Gandhi is the father of the nation, and all others (from Nehru to Modi) have failed to upstage him.
Tomorrow I move to Pontodeume, after a 30 km walk. The weather is not as expected. It’s not as hot, and it is expected to rain.
